Home Cinema in the Basement – A Modern Installation in a Challenging Space

Recently, we completed several exceptional installations, among which one particular project stands out — a home cinema located in a basement. Although the room was initially prepared, the requirements of a surround sound system had not been considered. As a result, new wiring had to be installed.

Since the interior was already nearly finished — with its walls painted in a dark color — we proposed a solution that allowed the installation to blend seamlessly with the existing decor. The key element was the use of black cable masking profiles, which enabled discreet cable routing without compromising the room's aesthetics. The entire installation was carefully planned to minimize visible components. The project was prepared before execution in both 2D layout and 3D visualization, preceded by a visit to our demonstration cinema.

The profiles were arranged in a way that makes them practically invisible, and part of the wiring was cleverly hidden behind acoustic panels. The use of a properly selected number of diffusive and absorptive panels, complemented by bass traps, allowed us to achieve optimal acoustic parameters (despite the absence of carpet), ensuring a true cinematic sound experience. The investor opted not to install carpeting due to the risk of flooding.

The heart of the cinema is a JVC projector delivering 4K resolution on a 122-inch screen. Surround sound in Dolby Atmos format is provided by a 5.2.4 setup — three front speakers, two side speakers, four ceiling speakers, and two subwoofers. The entire system is based on solutions from the renowned Danish brand Artcoustic, known for its high-quality sound and elegant design. The system is managed by a Denon AV receiver — a brand whose amplifiers we most frequently recommend for home cinema projects due to their quality, functionality, and reliability.
